Geek Your World
tidbits:
The 8-Track Player became popular
due to the automobile industry. The
first was Ford, they started offering them in 1965 and by 1966 all of their
cars had them as a standard feature.
Also in 1966 the home 8-track player became popular and people could move
their 8 track tapes between home and car.
The 1970s saw huge popularity of
the 8 track tape and players but as the compact tapes started emerging they lost
popularity mainly due to size. Even then
it still took until 1988 for them to completely go away and now many of those
late music releases are very collectible because so few tapes were made.
